 Breeding

We breed infrequently and only when we are in a position to add to our own kennel. The most important factor in choosing homes for the rest of the litter is not whether the puppy is going to be campaigned in the show ring but that it is going to be loved in a forever home. Our one condition of sale is that if at any time the new owner is unable to care for the pup he/she comes back to us. We are quite clear as to our responsibilities and would suggest that all breeders should consider whether or not they should breed if they are unable/unwilling to do the same.
Some time ago we reached a stage in our bullmastiff breeding programme whereby we felt we had gone as far as we could within our own lines. At that stage we had one girl Cali who was sired by a part outcross. We felt that we needed to bring some height and substance back into our line but did not want to compromise the qualities which Tartuffe has achieved over the years through careful line breeding – good construction, sound movement and winning personalities!!!
We then went on to use Garzelm God of Thunder, a stunning brindle who resides in Ireland and goes back on Pitmans and Frankental lines, with Tartuffe Haute Couture at Ballytain, a girl we own in partnership with our good friends Phil and Sharon Boyd in Northern Ireland. The results gave us just what we were looking for, height and substance with all the Tartuffe winning ways. We kept Tiamo and Keltie from this litter – have a look at them when browsing the site and see if you agree we have found a winning combination. We are also very pleased with their progeny - again catch up with them in the rest of the site
As you know we are relative newcomers in relation to our Dogue De Bordeaux breeding but the same rules apply in terms of our principles and belief system. We are very happy with our foundation dogs – all from Libertia kennels in Northern Ireland where Mark & Peri Burnside have worked so hard to establish quality stock from quality lines from both home and abroad. We are very, very happy with the pups we got from our last mating with Sorcha and our girl Amelie is already following in her mother’s pawsteps – always in the winning line up!!
