Preventative Care at Tartuffe

Janice and I are both committed chiropractor junkies and have regular maintenance sessions with our doc who does his best to keep all our old bones working as they should.  During one of our visits I picked up a card for a Vet Chiro, mentioned it to Janice in the passing and left the card lying around the office.  

Some time later we had noticed that Kenzie’s movement had changed and that she was hocking in on her back right leg, which was most unusual for her.  We were not aware of any injury but, before swimming her, thought it best to make sure there was no injury causing this gait issue.

We thought back to the card we had picked up and duly called Fiona who came up the following week.  She was able to ascertain that Kenzie had had a knock on her hip (no surprise to us given how hard she plays) and started weekly sessions to treat/correct the injury.  In between sessions we worked her out on the treadmill and within a few weeks we saw a marked difference.  Kenzie is now back to normal and has returned to the show-ring.

It then occurred to us that we do not afford the dogs the same luxury of preventative care that we enjoy and felt that perhaps we should.  We have now negotiated a contract with Fiona who will visit our kennel every six months to perform a check up on all the dogs and carry out any remedial work required.
